Okay, I could go on about how this worked (despite all the ways it didn't work), but having just read all the fannish squeeing on my f-list (grins at the guilty parties, who know who they are) I'm exhausted.

So, short version:

Yeah, as SF plots go, not so hot. The entire "wars" thing was, well, hooey. Badly plotted and lacking in some logical details that, as a story-editor, had me going "whoa, back it up! Back it up!"

Didn't care. Had fun anyway. "Find your own fantasy -- they're having my baby."

And I almost forgive them the whole Cold War double-handed plot-hammer they pulled out at the end for the scene between John and Aeryn, with her telling
him to damn the universe and do what he needed to do.

And did anyone else think how appropriate it was that they used black pseudoleather for baby bunting...? *snerk*

Yeah. That's pretty much how I feel abou it. There were trite bits, and hokey bits, and huge chunks that made no freaking sense--

but it worked, it was emotionally honest, and the story arc hung together. And that was all I really wanted.

I agree with you on the plot being a bit...well...loose for want of better words.

However, the birthing sequence had me in stitches, especially with Stark constantly messing up the marriage ritual.

And they left a few things hanging that could potentially be worked with in the future, Is D'argo dead? (in the TV Verse, if you didn't see it, it might not have happened), What happened to Grushlk and Sikouzu? Is Scorpius just gonna retire now? And --Goddess Help Us-- what thing of evil is Grayza spawning?

Then again, they did a fairly good job of tying most of the plot up. So we'll see.

I liked it. And it was kind of enough for me to see them interacting and get some of the hanging plot lines resolved.

I was so pissed when after watching the season finale (aeryn and john getting crystalized) that they weren't renewing the show. So yeah, even though some things could have been done better I'm just happy that there was some resolution. I wasn't expecting Dargo to bite it either.

I found the 2 part mini-series to be entertaining, which is what I expected. Sure it had issues, but the series had plot issues as well, it was the characters and the interaction that made that show what it was. Science Fiction, comedy, drama, suspense. I found the show lived up to what it had been. Dargo buying it totally sucked, but they did leave an out. So they could potentially bring him back. They could also put the peace keepers back under control of the Eidolon. So I enjoyed it and that is what counted.

I loved it. It was cheesy and hokey and had huge, gaping plot holes, and I still got sniffly when they named the baby after D'Argo.

I want an icon of Aeryn pointing her gun at Rygel. "You're spoiling my wedding!" And the whole "Shooting makes me feel better" thing just about killed me.

They crammed an entire season arc into four hours. It's no wonder the plot was all over the place. Loved it, though.
