I'm getting a 404 not found. What was the story?

Oh, lord. I wouldn't count on him staying gone, but we can hope.

okay, so not quite as good as Ann Rice, but still.

they're obviously uppitty and insular, since they didn't put me on a pedestal...

Sir Antony claimed yesterday that the literary world remained closed to him in terms of reviews despite the apparent success of the novel, claiming that it was long-listed for the Booker Prize. "I was finding it very unrewarding writing novels that no one was reviewing, so I'm sticking to stage plays now," he announced.

That's my personal favorite. All I have to say to that is, "Bitch, please." A more blatant lack of understanding of the process I have yet to see.

The poor dear. He's looking for approval and recognition, not readership. Well, that's what he gets. He can keep his attitude. I'm with the guy who commented that this author is welcome to toil in the world of screenplays where writers are so much more respected. Me, I'll take readership any day. Critics (having been one myself for about two years) give me heartburn.

All I can say is, "Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out."

Sheesh.

As someone who basically starts over each time I get a new publisher, I'm playing a teeny, tiny violin for him with my toes while typing this shot.

Then back to the work--

PS--Charles Dickens and Jane Austin were commercial writers, weren't they? I, for one, like our company better than the people no one will remember in 100 years.

I like to think we will be a small but fiercely loved corner in the history of the novel.... %^)

I think I worked with this guy, or one just like him. He hounded me for the secret, for the connection, for the special address. He also thought I was terribly selfish when I insisted there was no inner circle that could bring him fame and fortune, just old fashioned hard work and a bit of good luck (else why the sam hill did he think I was still working a day job?)
