(the rest of you...won't get it in your email box, and won't know how I managed to mangle a talking cat, an OCD bird, an ennui-ridden pirate, and an exasperated Spaniard into a story about..well, you won't know, that's all.)

I'm not quite sure an emu would be able to keep its grip, nor the pirate its balance, ship-board.....

I presume you're referring to http://dailysciencefiction.com/ ?
If so, I can't find the story on their site, can't find it by doing an author name search, and the featured story I'm seeing is "A Slice of 3.141592653589793238462643" by Oliver Buckram.

What am I doing wrong?

There are two stages to Daily Science Fiction. The first is email delivery, one a day. You have to be subscribed for that (it's free).

Then, after a few weeks have passed, the story rotates onto the website.

I'll let y'all know when we hit stage two. :-)

Aaaaah. I was wondering if that was the case when I saw the rather far-back date. I think I'll also mention to them that it'd be cool if, after the subscription confirmation process was completed, the new subscriber got a copy of that day's mailout. Shorten the task-reward loop for the tardy among us and all :)

In the meanwhile, I'm eagerly awaiting stage two! (Feels a bit like a space launch, saying that)

I'm feeling that. I subscribed yesterday in anticipation only to discover..... nothing. No emailed story in my mailbox today. And I was so looking forward to Mad Cats. Oh, well. Anticipation whets the appetite, right?

Hrmph. 24 hours should have been enough time...hell, 12 hours should have been enough time.


(however, now that you're subscribed...some good stuff will be coming your way. Having a new story to read every morning is nice, even if not every one works for every one.)
