Why I don't like DST

My schedule: get up by 6am, feed the cats, do my morning bodywork, make coffee, go to work. Usually, I'm at my desk by 7am.

The problem with DST is that unless interrupted, I keep working until the light fades. Which means, if I'm not careful - 12 hour workdays. And that's assuming I don't pick up work after dinner, too.

This is great for productivity, in short bursts, yeah. Long-term, though? Not so good. The two rush copyedits added to this week's schedule are just making it all worse - no time to get out for a mid-afternoon walk or bike ride. My back feels as though it's been compressed into a dime-sized knot of ow.

I love my job, I really do. But right now, I might trade it all for something with paid sick days, and co-workers to help pick up the workload.

Meanwhile, Boomerang is most upset by the fact that dinner is a green salad*. Cats have no truck with green salad. He's not getting any of my wine, either.



*mmmm sorrel. I am always so happy when the greenmarket offers me sorrel. A salad of spinach, sorrel, romaine and cabbage is a thing of joy and beauty - and roughage - forever.

Can you eat decorative sorrel? The kind with red veins up the center? If so, you will find me eating sorrel with my salmon!
