lagilman: coffee or die (Boomer)

When you live with a CatofSize, there are certain things you learn, and certain things you do. I've compared it to living with a tiger cub, and that's not at all inaccurate. Boomerang is 20+ pounds of mostly bone-and-muscle, and he has damn fast reflexes, and the usual feline instincts.

The fact that he also has an abiding affection for me does not, therefore, keep him from doing damage when he gets too wound up, and forgets to be gentle (and I forget to be cautious about the signs he's getting too wound up).

Fortunately for my work schedule, his teeth got me in the fleshy part of my palm, which means I'm still able to type, once antiseptic & bandages were applied...

Ten minutes later, of course, he came sidling up to me, asking for his ears to be pulled. Because he still doesn't grok that momma-two-legs is more delicate than the average cat, and she's still ow-ing.

(have I ever told the story of how he managed to knock me over? His three foot frame vs my five foot frame, and it wasn't even a contest)

My sympathy. I have three, none anywhere NEAR that size, and I swear they've made a pact that one of them, someday, is going to kill me by running full-speed into the back of my knee as I'm going downstairs. It can only end in tears. Stupid cats.

Being the owner of a fluffy (not fat) COS myself, isn't it amazing how pointy their feet get when applied to any part of your body with that weight behind them?

Oh man, my cat is all of 6 pounds, and she still manages to give me love-wounds from time to time. While I'd like to fatten her up a bit, I can see how a 3x version of her could be pretty scary (considering what an freaky lil bit of fluff she can be now).

Is he part Maine Coon?

But sometimes even the floofy Maine Coon can be more than just fur. I have a 21.7 lb skinny girl who has caused extreme mayhem to my person. She still thinks she is a tiny kitten.

Yup, we've got a House Cougar. I'm grateful he doesn't like to stand on me to tell me my shortcomings, as one of the other cats does.

Ouch! Hope the hand's healing and things are back to normal for both of you.

Did you have a tetanus shot in the last five years? If not, you should get one.

I read a kid's science book about cats, and it said they were stronger for their size than dogs because they literally have a higher percentage of muscle than most mammals, but they have to sleep more often because it leaves less room for their heart and lungs.

Bitsy, the cat who owns me, weighs in at oh, about 5lbs and still has the ability to do much damage. She likes her tail pulled O.O and if I don't give in to her demands she runs between my legs until I do. She managed to knock me over a few times!
