If you were to write an autobiography, what would be the title? Subtitle?

Once upon a time I joked that my title would be "Do We Have Canada?" I suspect only those a) in publishing and b) currently older than 40 would get the joke, now. The title still makes me smile & remember early days, though.

[specifically, the hallway of GP Putnam's Sons that covered Editorial, Contracts and Sub Rights. We were young, bright, eager and underpaid.... well, I'm still underpaid, anyway.]

So now.. I don't know. Suggestions?

New York Cool! (For your autobiography. I won't write one. 'Life-writing' is the thing I absolutely, utterly will not do under any circumstances.)

I love the idea of leaving behind a bibliography!

Well, I think you're cool. Also, you have leather trousers. That is in and of itself a sign of coolth.

Do We Have Canada? is still awesome. Use it for volume 1, which will cover your years in publishing. Volume 2 can be about your writing career. Call it Sorry, the Cat Was Walking On My Keyboard.

I was imagining it more as the opening line of any number of follow-up emails.

For me, I quite like My Part In My Downfall - after Spike Milligan.

Mine, I suspect, would be Jaws XLVI: Just When You Thought It Was Safe to Go Back to the Library Attired for Amity Beach. The premium edition will include a "bite" taken out of the front cover. Only $29.95 at finer Amazon websites everywhere...
