1. Interesting to see the rather varied sleep patterns among readers here. Also, how many of us swear by naps. I'm one of those annoying people who can (usually) not only reset myself with a 20 minute nap, but will actually wake up at exactly 20 minutes, without an alarm. Siestas: they're not just for warm weather climates.

2. I am woefully behind on who's New! and Hot! in the suspense field (historical or contemporary). Give me some names, people! Meerkat's got some reading to do.

3. I love traveling to new places and eating the local cuisine. That's half the POINT of traveling somewhere new, for me. That said, there came a point last weekend when I looked around and said "I would KILL for a green salad." Something that had uncooked vegetables, preferably crunchy, no pasta, and no damn mayonnaise (oh hai, Southern Americana!).

Eventually, I was able to lay fork into a bowl of lettuce and carrots (after I scraped away the cheese), but my craving remained. So last night I made that most wonderful of things: the steak salad. Which is to say: lettuce, red cabbage, carrots, and string beans, chopped coarse and tossed with oil & vinegar, served with 8 oz of rare red meat, sliced bite-sized, on top. Perfection. Ok, a little feta crumbled on top would not have hurt, either. mmmm. Need to pick up some feta...

4. Am I the only person who, whenever she gets a (admittedly rare) fan letter, immediately assumes she's getting punk'd? (I'm the same way with GoH invites. You'd think I'd have grown an ego by now...)

5. Looks like I won't be going to Boskone after all. Between the surprise expense of Springsteen tix, the cat's vet bills, and having to give Pandora her pill every morning, PLUS the fact that I'm up to my ears in happy-making but still deadline-driven work... yeah. *sigh* I WILL be at Lunacon, even if I have to come back from the dead for it, tho.

I feel I can't go wrong reading books by Iris Johansen, Linda Howard, or Kay Hooper. Julie Garwood's suspense books are hit or miss for me. Also really enjoy Suzanne Brockmann's books (Go Navy SEAL heroes) though they may not TECHNICALLY be suspense plus Dana Stabenow's books (Go Kate & Mutt) though those are mysteries.

Sounds like you had a good time in Chattanooga with Rachel Caine. Hey, did your phone recover from being dunked? Not all Southern American recipes have mayonnaise, it just seems like it ;)

YOU found Dana? I must bow before you when you come to DragonCon this year!!!!! I read her version of the awards, but never saw a mention of her editor.

Most of what I'm reading now I've discovered through you & other authors and/or editors. I LOVE TWITTER!
