Cat, trying to crawl inside rectangular sofa-pillow case. Pillow, lop-weighted, flips. Pillow and cat hit floor. Cat comes out, looks around, blinks, goes back in.

Human laughs her ass off.

In other news, having accepted that no work was going to be accomplished in the morning, I myself sat on the sofa and took a nap, and dreamed therein a damned realistic start-of-adventure

for three operatives and their boss, all women (with a male who was coming in to give an update), whose offices were in the backside of a hotel that may or may not have been hosting the tail end of an SF convention. Or those really were exotics and aliens. Either's possible. My POV character was the youngest operative, who had - during a debriefing - had a vision (or a walking hallucination) or a digital bullseye being drawn on someone. She was unsure if she was the one drawing the bead or not, and who the target had been. But she knew someone was going to die.  I don't think visions were common to her, but it's possible.  Either way, she doesn't say anything to anyone.

After the debriefing, her boss invites them all to her office for a drink to celebrate the completion of a successful mission, but Our Girl lags behind to finish drawing the details of her vision, and to collect her papers - and when she gets back the boss' office door is closed, and she can't remember which of the others is hers. She goes into one but it's empty, and filled with boxes. She wonders if she's been fired, then goes out and the office assistant, a clucking, motherly young sort, takes her aside and starts offering her advice (they think she's pregnant, maybe) and start talking about Hebrew names (it made sense at the time, trust me).

And that's when I woke up, convinced that this was just a spinoff of something I'd seen, but no, apparently not. If it's going to exist, I have to do it. Ugh. Maybe if more comes to me.... (I have no idea what they do, what's going to happen, or why anyone should care).

Does coming up with a potential proposal while sleeping count as working?

But for now, there's a book due on the 15th, and potloads of other Stuff to occupy me...

That does sound like a good hook for something.

When I was a wardrobe mistress for a small dance company I used to keep a notepad and pencil by my bed for the ideas that csame to me in dreams. Many of them were good solutions.
