lagilman: coffee or die (Pandora glares)

Another day, another 90 minutes spent at the vet's.

Pandora's showing distinct signs of retina problems as well as the heart murmur, which suggests hypertension. This could explain her discomfort - basically, she's getting headaches. Poor baby, I can so relate.

We've already ruled out hyperthyroidism, and primary hypertension's rare in cats, so the kidneys are the likely culprit. *sighs* On the plus side, she's not showing ANY signs of renal failure.

So tomorrow afternoon I bring her back to the vet, when the specialist is in, and she gets to be hooked up not only to the EKG, but the BP machine, too. Best case scenario is medication the rest of her life. Like human, like feline...

And now I have to go submit myself to the vampires/medical testing as well.

This week? Is pretty much FIRED.

My vet recommended SAM-e for Max when he had his kidney/liver issues a few years back (possible Feline Fatty Liver Syndrome, but we were never able to actually pinpoint the issue). He gets 100mg a day, crushed and mixed into his raw food and has been doing awesomely ever since. of course, him being a grumpy ol' man (he's 13 now), SAM-e being a natural mood lifter helps too.}:P

Might be something to talk over with your vet.

Luck! and here's hoping you can figure out what's going on and fix it.

I'm sorry to hear this and I hope she is OK. I have to take Cobweb to the vet, as soon as she shows up when the vet is open (grrr). (I think she has kidney problems.) Always difficult with cats - I hope Pandora is soon on the mend.

Java is on dermal steroids pretty much forever. It's something [livejournal.com profile] rosefox does for him, but it's not that hard to do. he's happier and healthier. Sot it's not so bad for us.

Hope medicating yours is at least as easy.
