Sir. I raise my glass. No, sir, I share my glass. With the good stuff in it.

"I'm tired of Republican-Democrat politics. They can take the job and shove it."

Amen!

Can you imagine how much we'd get accomplished if this were the philosophy of our entire Congress? If they did what they knew to be the right thing, regardless of the politics?

I've long believed we should abolish all political parties. Then politicians might actually serve the needs of the people instead of toeing their party lines. I don't know much about McDonald and his personal policy stances, but it seems like he's one politician who understands that it's not about the party, it's about the people.

I was reading something recently about how one of the unintended consequences of limiting terms is that people get to see how other folks would govern, and it tends to polarize them (this was as opposed to those systems in which most of the population have never known anyone other than the Current Dictator in Charge, so have nothing to compare his policies to). This leads to political parties, which leads to further polarization, which leads to attempts to create a "permanent [name your party here] majority", all in the name of Doing The Right Thing ie Doing It Our Way All the Time. It's like a Marxian philosophy of political evolution, where thesis and antithesis and synthesis are replaced by Republican and Democrat and Dictatorship.

This makes the folks like McDonald even more precious.

A *politician* who uses common sense is a rare thing, party lines aside.

Considering we just got a robocall from Mike Huckabee about repealing the Health Care Law, I can certify that the world hasn't ended yet. (Kind of ruined a decent afternoon, too.)

However, this guy gives me some hope.
