New Neighbor: "are you Hindu?"
Me: what? No, I'm Jewish."
NN: "You have a shrine set up to Ganesh."
Me: "I'm a publishing freelancer."
NN: [enlightened] "ah."

Maybe not only in NYC, but close...

Ah, Ganesh. Remover of Difficulties. Reminder to smile.

I just haven't found the right statue yet.

A friend did give me a carving of the Tiki god of money, though....

I have a tiny goddess carving that I found like that. She disappeared when I moved, and I think she's about to resurface. I found three reference books I've been looking for for two years...

It's a cool night. I'll go out into it in a while, because it will all be gone soon, and the early summer return with the drought.

Off-topic: I remember seeing a shirt with the boobies/tits image, but have been unable to find it ever since. Do you recall the source for the image, by any chance?

No, I picked this icon up from another LJer who had it, and was very generous with it. I like it for things I find amusing, or stupid, as occasion has it.

Have you tried simply Searching on "Boobies and Tits bird tee shirt" and see what pops up? (Belay that -- you can imagine what turns up. There are some birding tee shirts out there that have blue boobies on them, though.)

Far less of that than you'd expect, actually. Maybe it's because I'm careful to always include "shirt" in the keywords :)

The problem is, I want *that particular shirt* and there are myriad takes on it out there.

The Ganesh statue that sits next to my desktop. My reminder that my job is just to show up and work, and the rest will follow.

Our current house guests gave Ganesh a quart of milk in Singapore to find their missing luggage (he did). The temple priest, investigating why white people were bringing milk to the statue, made a mark with some ochre (I think) on J's forehead, resulting in an immediate 50% discount in the surrounding sari shops when they emerged from the temple.

I've had a statue of Ganesh for nearly two decades. It currently resides in the library on the ground floor of the house. There are no obstacles in the library.
