So. There's a meme going around with "the typical day."

I...

don't have one.

I get up somewhere between 5:30 and 7, depending on the day, how the cats are feeling, or where I am. I take my meds. There is coffee.

That's about the entirety of my typicality. After that? Every day is a response to what's needed. Sometimes that's all day at the desk. Some days that's running around town. Some days it's a combination of things, and a lot of riding in subway trains. There tends to be reading and tweeting and cat-snuggling in here, too. Some days I go to the zoo, and ponder the giraffes.

Then I come home. Or I go somewhere else.

I'm usually asleep by midnight. Unless I fall asleep before 10pm. Or I'm up until 2.

The typicality is that wherever I go or whatever I do, I have my smartphone, my netbook, an actual paper notebook (or a printout) and pens. And I work. Every day. Because that's what it means to be a successful freelancer.

And, on Thursdays, I finalize my Practical Meerkat column for BVC. Which is what I have to do now.

I don't have one, either. The most that can be said is that I usually do email and such in the morning and write in the afternoons and early evenings. But not always, because there are gym trips and lunch trips, research stuff and meeting up with local friends, cat-fussing, laundry and cleaning and wasting-time-watching-Hindi-films and, well, just plain *stuff*. And right now I have builders, which adds a whole new layer of complications, diversions and digressions. The sole unshakeable is the morning shower. No shower, no brain.
