That was the Day that was Wednesday
Feb. 23rd, 2011 08:56 pmToday was one of those days where you sit down at the computer at 7am and somewhere around 7pm you think "I should stop now." There were breaks for biology, of course, and stopping in to check out my neighbor's new couch as it was being delivered, and the occasional social email or text vs the work-related stuff. But mostly? Work.
Specifically, revisions. Coming maybe into the home stretch now, where the next part is transcribing all the edits I made in hardcopy. It may be easier - and for some folk it is - to rewrite while I'm doing the fixing, but that's never worked for me. I need to go through it all once, make sure all the ducks are lined up and seasoned properly, and then I can do the actual writing (and a good thing, too, otherwise I would have rewritten a section and then had to go back and rewrite it when I caught a massive plot-fail that turned ona single line. Oooops.).
But now it is 9pm, and part of my brain keeps insisting that I-having taken a break for dinner and conversation -- should keep working, work all the way through until I'm done.
Instead, I m going to put in a Robin Williams concert dvd*, drink some port, and Not Work.
Until tomorrow morning, when it all starts up again.
Meanwhile, I'm still taking suggestions as to the topic for this week's Practical Meerkat. If you don't speak up now, don't complain that nobody ever tells you anything, later!
*ok, that "no hitter on LSD" bit? Not fair to do to someone as tired as I am.
*and Robin Williams still makes me laugh so hard I squeak.

If I ever come up with a suggestion for a Practical Meerkat post, I'll pass it along. Right now, I'm just enjoying the ride. (Besides, my brain is fried after hours of "it's an emergency!!" crap from work.)
