There's nothing like a thoughtful review to really start a Monday right. The reviewer didn't -love- the book, but she respected it, and it made her think, and she'll come back for more. Job done.

Now I have to finish writing the next one. Why has no-one invented the brain-to-page direct transference method yet?

Meanwhile, it was 6 degrees, more or less, when I woke up this morning, with severe wind chill warnings in effect. The power plant (our affectionate term for the massive furnace that fuels the building) is doing its usual fabulous job, but I can still feel the chill in my flesh, even though it's not actually cold inside. I ain't going outside nohow. The things that needed to be mailed can wait until Tuesday.

Also, New!Bookcase! Um. Have I mentioned that recently? Yeah, my life really is just that exciting.

Hey, works for me.

One of the biggest things that happened over last summer was acquiring two 6' bookshelves from our neighbor's yard sale for the price of $18. The only drawback was that the kids called dibs on them for their two rooms.

I adore thoughtful reviews, ones that actually tease out what does and doesn't seem to work in a story and that are more than just "this was a rollicking good time!" or "hey, it's a book!"

6F? Oh my, it's WARM where you are. -18F here, apparently. Before wind chill. I refuse to leave a climate-controlled area without being swaddled up like someone on a Shackleton expedition.

New bookcases are SO exciting. I still haven't gotten over the ones I bought in NOVEMBER.

My boys are working hard on the cat-brain-to-monkey-brain equivalent ("Tea-time! It's tea-time! Feed us now!!"); once they perfect that, I'm fairly sure it'll be an easy filter, brain-to-page.
