Bookday! Happy happy bookday!
Jan. 18th, 2011 08:31 amToday I can have new book! And so can you*!
*Kermit flail of glee*
PACK OF LIES, despite having a February 1 publication date listed in the schedule, is now available via all major booksellers (and the smaller indies too, I am sure). So if you pre-ordered it bless you, and it's en route now. If you haven't ordered it yet... well, you can have Immediate Gratification and snatch it off the shelves before anyone else.
Or, you can try to win a copy. Because to celebrate the day - and picking up the slack while I am slightly buuuusy right now, the even busier Rachel Caine is throwing a contest wherein you can win a copy of PACK OF LIES!
Meanwhile, I hereby offer the chance for the first 3 (three) people who present me with proof of the book in the wild to have their name (or name of choice) be used for a fatae breed, officially mentioned in the universe, in the copyeditor's List, and everything. Post your pic (or a link) in the comments.
Me? How am I celebrating Book Day? I had a cookie for breakfast, and now I'm back at work on PSI #4. *zoomz*
(yes, I know that the ebook links aren't live yet. I have already put in a rather WTF? call to my publisher about that on your behalf, and expect it to be sorted tout de suite.)

Date: 2011-01-18 03:14 pm (UTC)My preordered paper copy from Amazon is shown as "shipping soon" which means that it should show up Thursday and may even show tomorrow.
Neither Amazon nor Barnes & Noble are showing that there is going to be a digital copy yet (I dutifully pushed the "tell the publisher you want this book in _____" buttons both places.
eHarlequin isn't admitting it is going to exist in any form in any place I can see.
Thanks for trying - publishers don't have to make sense I guess.

Date: 2011-01-19 02:50 am (UTC)The difference appears to be that the publisher controls actual shipment of physical copies (so they control early release), but since e-books are essentially a digital file once sent to the vendor they are out of their control, hence the restriction on distribution..
I don't necessarily agree, but it does make a certain amount of sense I suppose.

Date: 2011-01-19 03:01 am (UTC)Actually if they weren't received on time, that could be a reason for the loss of link?? (No clue, just speculating)

Date: 2011-01-18 06:35 pm (UTC)I have small funny story for you from several months ago. I was curled up with my iPad, reading.
my sweetie: "What are you reading?"
me: "The new Laura Anne Gilman book - 'Weight of Stone'."
him: "Oh. I was going to buy that for you for your birthday."
me: "But you did! I used your Amazon account!"

Hope the quality is OK, as I took it with my cell phone. Interestingly enough, it seems to have a slightly taller trim size than Hard Magic... Can't wait to read it!no subject
