It seems to have (mostly) stopped snowing, although there's still enough wind that I can't tell if it's re-gifting snow or still coming down lightly. Forecast says we're not done yet. We have clearly surpassed the 13" of last night - I may go out and remeasure the accumulation/take photos. I may not... see follow-up post.

All right, it's Monday. If I'm not going to go out and frolic in the snow (and I may yet), then it's time to fire up the brain and get back to work - at least for a few days before we head into what's really my favorite holiday of the year -- New Year's Eve.

Revisions, and a short story, and research, are all tugging at me. Gotta get to it.

But first, two bits of egoboo:

i09 discusses "Breaking the Waves," the Gulf charity anthology I took part in, and starts off by saying "n her short story "Site 14," Laura Anne Gilman contrasts the indifferent, immense power of the deep, deep depths with the ingenuity and persistence of a hardworking crew of government aquanauts, to terrific effect." Since I love this story and am incredibly proud of this anthology and what it's doing, if you haven't already checked it out, please do so!

and Fangs Wands & Fairy Dust says some incredibly nice things about PACK OF LIES, including the bit that made me tear up: "Pack of Lies is Urban Fantasy for the Smart Reader.... You have to think while you read this book."

That probably loses me some readers, but I'm okay with that. I cherish the ones who think.

So, my East Coast readers, how much snow did you get? And are you heading to work, or do you have off?

I'm just west of Fort Lee - don't know exactly how many inches we've got, but Lyndhurst isn't far from here and they got 29 inches. I'm on vacation this week. I'm going to stay inside and write.

According to Newsday, my town had 9" as of 9pm last night, but I think it's easily over a foot now. My dog was practically swimming in the backyard. No trains or buses are running and the airports are closed until 4pm. However, my bookstore is opening as normal despite the NWA, State Police, and the county saying 'Don't drive.' I get to work the night shift.

We got a lot. Not sure how much, but over a foot, for sure.

I'm home -- the library is closed today. I stocked up on supplies and the kid next door volunteered to dig out my father's car. (I'm in the garage.) So I don't need to go to the chiropractor today.

It's nice to look out at the pretty white stuff while sipping tea.

Finally dragging myself out of bed where a cold laid me up, I think we got roughly 3 inches of snow total here. Wind's whipping up the finer stuff today, and sculpting it into new drifts.
