OEtA3: In the interests of accurate reporting, I just(at 8:30pm) went outside w/ a tape measure. Average depth of snow:13" Visibility: 3 feet, max.
r so they're promising us.
While I'm annoyed that my sister's family visit is cut short (they're heading back to Boston today, half a step ahead of the storm) and that my plan to go see the new Narnia movie has been postponed, I have to admit that I'm looking forward to this storm which, we are told, will dump somewhere between 11"-16" on us before leaving Monday afternoon.
EtA: Most recent forecast for today says: Snow with a chance of thunderstorms in the evening...then snow after midnight. Blowing snow. Snow may be heavy at times in the evening with visibility one quarter mile or less at times. Total snow accumulation of 10 to 14 inches. Windy with lows in the lower 20s. North winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent.
I have a pile of books to read, music to listen to, a kitchen stocked with things to nom (and the ingredients for ginger-pistachio scones), purring cats (and enough cat food to last us several days) and thick socks and warm blankets.
Now all we need is the snow.
*looks out window, waits*
EtA2: The snow has begun, a steady, serious-looking curtain of flakes. I have a book to read, and oven-warm pistachio-ginger scones with my sister's Meyer lemon marmalade to eat, and a mug of Earl Grey tea at my elbow. All's well with the world, in this tiny corner.
[yes, I know many peoples' travel plans are FUBAR'd. But as this is the fate of we who travel in winter, and it's -after- Christmas and -before- New Year's, I can't help but think the timing's as good as it's going to get...]

Ooo.... I love it when snow and thunderstorms mix; especially when it's snowing hard enough that you can't see the sky well and you start hearing thunder.
