Working on the revisions for GRAIL QUEST #1: In Search of a Title. Combination of plodding (fix that, fix this, fix those), irritation ("I meant that, so no I'm not going to change it) and energy bursts ("Excellent! Yeah, good idea, this will fix that!"). In other words, your typical revisions slog.

In other work-related news, have a meeting with an editor to follow-up on a project she and i are both excited about. Just needs to see if the idea becomes a workable plot. And also heard that, although I didn't make the first cut for another publishers' work-for-hire project, the editor wants to hold on to my proposal to see if they buy more. That's the bad news/good news/bad news scenario -- bad that I didn't get in, good that I'm still in the running, bad because now it's going to sit there on the editor's desk for at least a year, and I can't do anything else with the idea. Le sigh.


In more amusing news, the great and mighty calico across the way (this thing is the size, no joke, of a car tire) faced down the garbage truck this morning. Just sat there and dared the truck to run him over.

Mind you, if they had, they might have damaged the truck. This cat's that big.

But they backed down, and the sanitation workers had to walk an additional ten feet to get the garbage.

I'm not sure what all that was about, but it amused me greatly. Almost made up for waking up (again) at 4am.

Clearly someone was trying to throw away *his* quilt, only he won. (This was one of the most beautiful children's books we had, and for some reason was 'special' so we didn't get to read it as often as we wanted to, but instead it got kept on a special high-up shelf with Dawn, (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0688109896/ref=lpr_g_2/102-1597393-1142526?v=glance&s=books) by Molly Bang. If my mom got these for the grandchild hope chest, then there'd be some real competition in the baby race. )
