EtA: wow, not even a single vote on gingerbread vs shortbread vs chocolate cookies? *pokes f-list* Anyone out there?



A question for the crowd: given a choice between gingerbread, shortbread, or chocolate cookies, which would you prefer there be more of? (as always, poll is non-binding on the host)

In addition to being cool (okay, if you geek that stuff), the video was shot at the AGU meeting in San Francisco, which is where G. is this week. Yes, I tried to spot him in the opening crowd shots. No, I didn't see him.

And in events closer to home, the Kit-In Box has proved so successful, I am beginning to think a second one will be needed, to place on the other end of the desk, so the Resident Furfaces can each have their spot, and glare at each other "mom loves me best" across my keyboard... It might reduce the actual usable acreage of my Big Desk, but that's small price to pay for feline harmony in the office...right?

Another appeal to the LJ-mind: I still have four sturdy wooden kitchen chairs on offer, for anyone in the area who needs them. Or, if you know a charity/shelter who could use them, please let me know - they're far too nice to put on the curb.

Likewise. Although one of my accidental lodgers (long story) is making shortbread tomorrow in my oven and has offered some of the shortbread as a massive bribe for using said oven.

The local Post Office cat, who is a small, disdainful tabby, has a large ice cream box on the PO desk, in which she sleeps, squarely.

One of the things I like about the kit-in box is that it attaches in such a way that you can not only adjust it to the cat's preference (so they can see you while you work, turning it either 90 degrees or 45, or...) but that it doesn't actually sit ON the desk, but about 3" above it, meaning there's room to store papers underneath but still within reach.

I friended you for your books, but now I was wondering if I could pick your brain about wine. For Christmas last year, I made my co-worker sugar & spice cookies and bought her a cheap-ass bottle of chocolate wine. This year, I'm making her the cookies again, but I'd like to get a better bottle of wine. I'm still poor-ish, so I'd like to spend under $25. Can you recommend a not cheap-ass bottle of wine that will go with the cookies? The cookies taste like a cross between sugar and gingerbread. I live on Long Island and I'd like something I can get around here without going into the City.

I'd appreciate it any help you can give me and thank you for your entertaining journal. With regards to the poll, I actually have an excellent recipe for chocolate shortbread cookies. Otherwise, I prefer chocolate.

Hrm. Not sure what you mean by chocolate wine -- my instinct would be to suggest a port, maybe Dow's 10 yr Tawny or Graham's 6 Grapes...
