I Can Haz New Computer!
Nov. 15th, 2010 06:54 amI repeat: I can has new computer*.
The computer that I saw weeks ago in Best Buy and tried to acquire, and was told that they were out of stock indefinitely on. The one I ordered direct from Dell. The one that Dell screwed the pooch on, canceled and reissued my order so that it would not arrive until the 30th (not the 18th as originally promised), and then gave me an hour+ of bullshit when I tried to find out what happened and how to get it faster (excellent machines, criminally bad customer services, that's Dell all over). The same machine that, when I went back to Best Buy, they said "oh, we can have it for you in few days... and then turned out to have it in stock again at my local store, and me with a rental car this weekend so yay! I could swoop down and pick it up!
And then Dell gave me six kinds of shit and made me waste an hour trying to cancel my revised-and-useless order.**
But yayz! I have a new computer, and I am right now staring at a 23" monitor that is a thing of joy and delight, and typing on a wireless keyboard that responds to my even thinking about words I want to say, and a wireless mouse that the cats can no longer yank to the ground when they chase each other around my desk, and...
And I have no more excuses for not writing. Right. Will be getting right on that, as soon as I set up this computer with all my old settings....
*the only things that dragged me away from it yesterday was my promise to puppy-sit (Cute Puppy trumps Shiny!New Tech) and G taking me out to a new Polynesian restaurant for silly rum drinks and crab potstickers which, YUM)
** I note that Dell took over 24 hours to respond to a direct tweet to their "Dellcares" account. I Tweeted a problem I had with Best Buy (their website-listed hours did not match actual store hours) and I had someone respond within 2 hours asking what store it had been, looking into it, and getting back to me with a response. Talk about clueful vs...not!

In the end, it was basically a brandnew and yet still rebuilt, computer.

Date: 2010-11-15 05:15 pm (UTC)The funny thing is- the hubby got nearly the exact same computer. Had absolutely NO problems with it. I got the slimline version of his computer- nothing but problems. (Had to have the harddrive replaced twice, the cd-rom replaced, the video card replaced... yeah. In 8 months.}:/)
So, last year, after me being fed up with fighting with it, and him being tired of trying to figureout why it kept breaking down, we traded computers.
He now has my slimline version and has had... absolutely NO issues.
Me, with his full version, has had to wipe the harddrive already, replace the power supply and get a new video card.
Conslusion? Computers hate me. *nods sagely*
