A nice shot from the Harrisonburg (VA) signing... Wow, so serious, Gilman. You were afraid you were going to forget how to spell your name again, weren't you?
I'm not an author, but I signed so many DVDs (http://shop.browncoatsmovie.com/browncoatsmovie-dvd-order.aspx) at Dragon*Con that my signature changed. At one point, I actually paused mid-signature. I wasn't sure what name I was in the process of writing, but it sure didn't look like mine!
For that, I would either stalk previous entries and maybe ask friends find out her taste in wine beforehand, or ask what she wanted and try to come back with it. That applies for any author I would ask for a nonstandard signature.
