proof of life...
Oct. 26th, 2010 08:36 amAm safe, settled in the Badger's Sett with generous hostess
badgermirlacca, two Morgans of Affection, and a clowder of cats (one of whom is trying to sneak under my laptop so to get more better pettings. Yes, little one, you are wee and black but I see you....)
Amusing moment: while on my way yesterday, I stopped in a randomly-chosen winery tasting room (as I do) and mentioned the Vineart War books to the owner (as I do). In walk three other people to likewise do tastings. We all got to talking (as you do) and I passed along my (pbk) edition of FLESH AND FIRE to look at. And it turned out that one of the women had just read WEIGHT OF STONE. Rock Star moment, no lie.
After arrival, I was taken off for live theater (a rarely-produced Elizabethan play being produced as a student thesis) at Blackfriars Theater,a lovely reproduction of the original, and then dinner, where I had the added bonus of catching the last half of the Giants handing the Cowboys their heads. Cheerful, that.
And this is the view this morning:

Dare and Mae, waiting for breakfast
Later today, some work, some touristing, and the signing tonight - Barnes & Noble (289 Burgess Road, Harrisonburg, VA) at 7pm! (Today is TUESDAY, Gilman, not Wednesday....)

Date: 2010-10-26 01:21 pm (UTC)Am jealous of where you're located. Wind and mist and mountains and horses. (Okay, my daughters would like the last one more than me, but there was a paddock near where I grew up. Horses were part of the landscape.) All you need is the occasional horn (or whistle) of a train, and I'd be all set.

Date: 2010-10-26 01:35 pm (UTC)Although I admitted to mine hostess last night that I would probably last 2-3 months out here before I went mad and ran screaming for the nearest large city. I like the country but I am not a country girl.

Date: 2010-10-28 08:56 am (UTC)::jealous:: We have to drive about an hour to get to the closest canoeing livery.
And in addition to train whistles, we had a coyote chorus tonight.
::double jealous:: Coyotes moved into the county about 15 years ago, and recently a den was discovered not too far from our house in suburbia, but I've never heard them. Boy, to hear some people talk around here, you'd think The Big Bad Wolf moved in.
Let's try this again...

(when in doubt, btw, always trust the store site, not the author's...)
