Just the start of what promises to be a very long day. Probably a long weekend. A long, warm, muggy, occasionally rainy weekend. And so I give you some link soup:

[livejournal.com profile] kradical says it for me on the matter of Stupid Hateful People.

[livejournal.com profile] kefiraahava reminds us that we have stewardship over the animals...and that implies a little responsibility. Verizon doesn't seem to think so.

An update on the shelter situation: NY/NJ loves animals almost as much as they hate Verizon...

And I hereby proclaim today national Wear A Politically Offensive T-shirt Day. I don't care who you offend -- just do it! Otherwise this story will become even more the norm.

And let's just not even discuss Governor McGreevy, okay? I don't like the man, but stepping down because you had to admit to an extramarital homosexual relationship... no, dude. This is New jersey! Step down because your fiscal connections are shady! Not for stupid sex! (although I will say that I respect him for stepping forward and dealing with this, rather than trying to duck and dodge as is the norm for politicians these days).

That probably would have happened sooner or later. Although why he thought his gay lover would be a better public reason to resign is beyond me.

He didn't have a choice. He was being sued by his now ex-lover, who was hired by the State of New Jersey when McGreevey became Governor.

It's being made public now (thanks to the lawsuit) but according to friends I have in the NJ GOP, it was well-known even before he became governor. I know this because *I* knew about it before he became governor.

Amazing, huh? The Republican party not only knew he was involved in a homosexual relationship but didn't use it to sling mud in a campaign.

Mlive.com wants registration--I don't even feel like being "Keith" right now, I have a convention to get ready for...

But I've already picked out a possible teeshirt for purchase--I either want the No CARB (That's Cheney-Ashcroft-Rumsfeld-Bush to you) shirt or the "Democrats are sexy--who ever heard of a nice piece of elephant?" shirt. Not sure I have the guts to wear the latter, tho... But as a person who can't eat grains, the first tee is irresistible.
