Okay, guys, having talked with some of the Nice FolkĀ® at Capclave, and considered my schedule, and been abused talked to some of my long-suffering very patient supporters along the PA-VA route, it has been decided that I'll be heading thataway (Universe Willing) to celebrate the release of WEIGHT OF STONE (Book 2 of The Vineart War) in October.

I might, if there's a place calling my name, even make it down to the Carolinas, mainly 'cause I've never been there.

So if you're in that area? Sing out and suggest bookstores/wineries/bus stops where they might be willing to host an event!

[aside to the folk in Ohio who asked: I may or may not be out your way as well. Much depends on timing, endurance, and cash flow...]

I have no idea about signings, but I live on a Marine base next to the beach in NC. I'd be happy to host you for some beach time and Marine ogling.

If you want to go the indie route, there's http://www.josephbeth.com/Landing.aspx. (I am thinking of the Pittsburgh location, but it appears that there are others potentially on the way.)

If you want to go chain, the Borders and BNs in the Pittsburgh area seem to be generally willing to host authors.

JB is my friend. We go to the Cincinnati one about 2-3 times a month.

And for the record, Laura Anne, they do carry all of your Retrievers and F&F novels. (I don't know about your Romance works, but I don't go wandering in the Romance section.)

Well.. If nothing works this year, maybe you can consider Concarolinas in June 2011?

I have heard good things about it :)

Excellent! We'll look forward to seeing you at CapClave. Perhaps find a decent bar nearby for a drink, this time with no guilt-monkey in evidence. I'm sure Vendetta (the cat-like yellow lab) would love the opportunity for more attention.

With regard to places - there is the "usual" Borders in VA at Baileys Crossroads, that regularly hosts authors.

But thinking out loud, Virginia has a LOT of wineries, and October IS Virginia Wine month, and there are usually several events taking place around that time. There might be some interesting opportunities for hosting.

I have to admit not having any ties to any winery or wine events but from perusing the web it does seem promising.

Best,
Day

What's your status on WFC? Are you planning on going?

Well, one thing in your favor is that Ohio State isn't playing in Columbus that weekend, but rather up in Minnesota. (Not being an OSU fan, I had to actually search for that.)

That means that Columbus won't be inundated by tailgating fans from all over the state.

Not a wine person (although my cousin is and has done some work with the Carolina wineries, so I can find out without issues), but I know there are wineries throughout the state and am willing to play chauffeur for at least a day, if not more. Plus, you would have a place to stay in Raleigh, should you need it.

(And Con Carolinas is fun, in case you can't make the NC portion in October.)

There is a B&N less than a mile from my place, and a number of small independent stores (usually located next to a college campus).

Let me know if you are coming ... I will be happy to help make plans, etc.

A college buddy (horror writer) just did a signing at Two Sisters Bookery in Wilmington, NC and reported he had a great experience there. Wilmington is a really great town, too. They have a really cool art gallery/wine bar downtown that has good music on in the evenings.
