24 hours after, and the winds no longer blow...

walking back from the gym this morning, I stopped to take some random pics of the post-storm damage...

a construction-site wall, blown down
the other side of the site, not only blown down but broken.


I had some shots of the post-trunk-removal debris, but the pic came out so small and dark all you get is the sense of a dark and stormy morning...

You didn't happen to see any sign of what that godawful lightning strike hit, did you? I couldn't see anything when I went through the area this morning.

The only thing I saw that might have been it was the light at the road-split up the hill -- it had been knocked 3/4 of the way off the post, and lopped with crime scene tape -- but there was no indication on the cement below that anything car-shaped had hit it. It would also be in more-or-less the right locale for the bright white flash of light I experienced....

But I didn't stop to look for scorchmarks.

My brother had his basketball hoop and its pole fall onto his car. Apparently, it did a lot of damge. Poor B. If something has to happen, it will happen to him.

Here in CT, they're comparing the damage in Fairfield County to that of Hurricane Gloria. Apparently nothing like that has happened around here since ... amazing.

Ditto over on Staten Island, where there was a scary amount of damage.

Here, it looks like we got off (relatively) lightly. And nobody in the city was killed, for which we are thankful (there were storm-related deaths in the area, but I'm not sure where/how many)
