Had massive amounts of work calling my name so today I went to the gym and then...

skipped the desk and played hooky with scarlettina in from Seattle with jackwilliambell, and girasole from the Other Part of the Bronx. We did lunch at that very New York Institution, Katz' Deli (yes, the place where Harry Met Sally) and I had matzo ball soup and a corned beef sandwich that was not like any corned beef you've ever had unless you had it at Katz' (that should be their motto. I give it to them for a lifetime supply of sandwiches), and we shared a slice of Perfect New York Cheesecake. And then we walked around Washington Square Park and Greenwich Village in the downward-falling mist (since jackwilliambell had *gasp* never been in NYC before) and I introduced them to Insomnia Cookies and Mysterious Bookshop where I did not buy any books, by dint of repeating "the bill from Dublin will land soon" over and over again in my head.

And then I sent J and J off to rest before their evening of theater, and came home to face the reality that I still have to do a final shakedown on my speeches for tomorrow's presentations at the Liberty States Fiction Writers Conference, for which my ride is picking me up at 8:30 am, and oh by the way I haven't written a word all day on anything else that's due.

*gulp*

But I regret nothing.
