If you're going to walk into my burrow and post a "warning" about something, it would behoove you to DO YOUR RESEARCH beforehand, to make sure that you know what you're talking about. Especially if it's something I happen to know quite a bit about.

Otherwise I will have no hesitation in calling you out -- and quite possibly making you look like an idiot.

That "warning" was almost brilliant in its stupidity.

it was -- if one is charitable -- a classic example of someone seeing a keyword and putting together facts that might seem reasonable but are utterly wrong - and a minute of thought and/or looking at the website in question would have cleared things up, had they taken that minute.

The tone and the "clearly not from around here" aspect, however, made it appear more like a nasty-tempered attempt to be Smarter Than Thou without any actual smarts.

He's not the first, I suspect he won't be the last. The level of vitrol in his comment -- and the factual wrongness of it -- made me wonder why the hit-and-run, rather than staying to argue how wrong I was.
