lagilman: coffee or die (dandelion break)

Sarah Weinman reports that Robert B Parker has died at age 77, reportedly "sitting at his desk."

I only knew him indirectly when I worked at Putnam, but I think he'd appreciate going out that way.

Good night, Mr. Parker. You did that most difficult of things -- wrote breezy fun books that had a lot of craft hidden under the fun. *raises coffee mug in salute*

I have read all of the Spenser books, the Jesse Stone books, and the Sunny Randall books, and most of the westerns. They are lovely and tasty and quick. They read like candy and feel like thoughtful.

Sweet dreams, Mr. Parker. *also raises coffee mug in salute*

I'm always amazed by how much emotional information he manages to convey in narratives that often read almost like screenplays.

He - and his work - will be missed.

Nicely said. This is sad news indeed.

Fare well, Mr. Parker.
I will probably dig out a couple of Spenser novels for a re-read.
