There is Chaos in Ch. Felidae this morning, and a to-do list that makes me whimper, so will just throw this Open to a discussion of whatever folk want to ask -- or, yannow, a Leveragefest of squeee. :-)


[personally, I thought the plot was weak even by Leverage standards (you could tell that this wasn't originally written to be Season 2b's opener, as the pacing was more of 2nd or 3rd episode), but the #funtrain was under full steam and dragging me along -- I watched just to see the two alphas of Nate and Tara work their shit out (and dash the expectations of 3/4 of fandom, it seemed, who expected it would be the rest of the team who had trouble with her, not Nate. Nicely played, writers, nicely played). Very much looking forward to next week's episode. And can we talk about the "she's hot" reaction? Because I thought the guys did a nice job of conveying the expected "did she say that?" with a more Parker-specific "she just said that" that turned the scene from the usual "heh heh girlsex!" take into something a little a little more nuanced.]

I didn't read this post (avoiding spoilers) but you've made me look up & want to watch this show -- the 'robin hood' aspect appeals to the pinko in me :)

Heh. You'd be the, hrm, tenth person I've hooked on the show. I should be getting my toaster any day now...

The plot-logic often isn't (the term "funtrain" comes from the showrunner himself, reportedly, explaining the whole 'sometimes you just have to sit back and say "let it ride"' mentality of a good caper storyline, to the point where they've actually used it in the show itself, hello meta) but it's great fun when they get rolling, and has one of the highest levels of competence porn* of any show on television after Criminal Minds. The fact that the show's on TNT is one of the few things that keeps me from dumping cable.





*smart people doing their jobs well, particularly the planning and discussion thereof.

It is fun and I have to agree about the competence. Nate's outfit? I did love the fan. And Parker is still unquestionably Parker. (They're all themselves; I sometimes think Parker could be at risk of being oversocialized.)


I'm also pleased that it runs an hour after L&O: SVU and not at the same time. Totally different shows. I like SVU (wouldn't record it if I didn't), but I also like having a lighter show afterward.

Yeah, I worry that they're going to strip away what makes Parker Parker, as the show goes along. They should adapt to her sociopathic tendencies, not her adapt/adopt from them!

Agreed on all points. Loved Tim's obvious Lagerfeld homage, and CK's guyliner related flounce. Parker remains adorable. Loved her fierce runway walk. :)Are you getting the feeling that Sophie is in fact in front of a green screen somewhere, and is actually closer than Nathan thinks? Pondering Heidi is PONDERING.

I totally think Sophie is hiding out nearby! One phone call she's in Paris, and the next, the Middle East? Really? I'm not saying it's not possible, but I thought those calls took place fairly close, time-wise...

I liked how she was clearly getting her panties in a twist over the chemistry between Nate and Tara.

Yeah, I had the feeling she was actually in some very nice hotel conference room somewhere, unable to work up the enthusiasm to go out and have Adventures alone, now, but damned if she would admit it.

Or, yknow, she could be jet-setting on someone else's credit card. Breakfast in Paris, after-dinner drinks in Cape Town, morning coffee while the sun rises over Jerusalem....

If she'd done that to me, I'd have been "fine, whatever." She had the walkoff, not him, and his ire was, IMO justified.

But I'm not a big Nate/Sophie 'shipper. They weren't who they were, when they had the flirtation-dance pre-show, and now it's just getting tired. Much more interesting when she's in full-on grifter mode, and he's trying to keep her (and the rest of them) in check and on-target. But we'll see what happens.

While the line was both funny and true, I was of mixed feelings about it. I mean, we haven't seen him being overtly "damaged" recently, and certainly not since Tara joined -- and I somehow doubt he'd be showing that side of himself to someone he doesn't like/trust. And no matter how good a people-reader she may be, I don't see her picking that up. So it felt a lot like fanservice, and while I enjoy a good shout-out as much as anyone, I like it to be based in the ongoing, not pulled out of left field.

On the other hand, if she is that good of a friend to Sophie, and knows why Sophie left, then it could be a subtle way of poking S into returning. If the writers play that up, then kudos to them -- one player playing the other for her own good, and Tara's not such a hardliner after all [which was sort of implied in the way she looked at her check, at the end].

We'll have to see.

I don't know that I agree, simply because she is that good a reader of people and Nate really isn't that good at hiding how damaged he is.

I came late to the show, but that Viwer's Choice Marathon yesterday was great fun. Of course, Elliot is great eye candy.

The entire cast is eye-candy -- something for everyone. The fact that they both embrace that, and don't rest on it, is one of the reasons I love this show.
