Merry/Happy Christmas, to those who observe. I hope your day is filled with Christmassy delight (and no obnoxious relatives, drunken or otherwise)
Me, I'm off to go dancing/socializing tonight, followed by the Obligatory Movie & Chinese food tomorrow. Twenty-four hours of Social Behavior, and no writing. My wrist -- after 48 hours and thirty+ pages of new material -- will be grateful to do the raise drink/lower drink movement instead....
[and for those of you who need to reach me about ongoing social plans, the phone will be faster than texting/e-mail for the next 36+ hours. Yes, shocking, I know...]
*taken from one of my favorite-this-year holiday cards, because it really does sum up my feelings about people who insist that everyone is Just Like Them, or unhappy that they're not
EtA: I note that the number of e-cards vs traditional cards was about even this year, but it was only a few of the e-cards that had an overtly Christmas feel (incl Christmas trees, Santas, angels and etc). And those came from people who really should have known better. The traditonal carsd were all seasonal, not holiday-specific. Indicative of the people, or the availability of season-general e-cards? Date: 2009-12-24 02:02 pm (UTC)I'll just take a little less self-righteousness from the relatives. And maybe that my wife has the intestinal fortitude to grin and bear it without doing anything that will end her up on a police blotter.
Catch you on the flip side of the Holidays...

Date: 2009-12-24 04:03 pm (UTC)Same here. I can't do 3-D or I start throwing up too. JC thinks it might have something to do with the strong astigmatism prescription in my glasses. I have severe astigmatism and it's quite different in both eyes. This might be throwing you off too.

Date: 2009-12-24 07:26 pm (UTC)The political, snarled "Merry! Christmas!" accompanied by an I-dare-you glare? Fair game.
The early day was breakfast out, then some time spent in a convivial line at the local bakery to retrieve a real mincemeat pie, then a stroll around downtown in the sun, with stops in at Childrens' Book Cellar, Framemakers, and Barrels Market to exchange merrywishes (and, um, also to buy books, tomatoes and some greens), and now we're home, lunched and about to nap. We have reservations at the Lucky Panda tomorrow, and some movies from Netflix on the Mencken Table.
Relaxation...so nice. Enjoy yours.

Date: 2009-12-24 09:58 pm (UTC)General "merry happy!" wishes don't bother me, although I personally default to "happy holidays" out of politeness to my Gentile friends, rather than singling them out from the pagans, Jews and agnostics, secular humanists, Buddhists and whatnot. :-D
