1. Pandora apparently dislikes opera [and Bruce, oh the shame], but will cuddle up to a speaker playing Nick Cave, and listens happily to Andrea Bocelli. Boomer's mellow on it all.

2. Photos from Last Night's "Last Hurrah for Waldenbooks" signing. Sold books, had fun. Win/Win. Catie, your fudge was devoured with glee, and I made sure everyone knew who provided it. If they weren't fans before...

3. Despite provocation (it was stacked right behind me during the entire signing) I did NOT buy the Gourmet Today cookbook. I may yet crack, since I see it's almost half-price @ B&N (sorry, April)

4. We did not get any sticking snow in NYC. I am most cranky about this. On the other hand, it's finally the proper temperature outside (mid-30's) and the apartment has just the right edge of toasty to be comfortable, but not too warm. Yay winter!

5. Making brunch this morning. Crepes, or scones? Or hey, why not both? Hrmm. *goes off to contemplate pantry*

How's YOUR weekend going?

EtA: went with blackberry crepes. Nom. Also, I impressed brunch guest by actually being able to flip said crepes in the pan, and not make a disaster. No, I didn't know I could do it either. Another new skill!

Um, I guess trying to explain to a cat about the singing style of Bocelli is out of the question...

How's YOUR weekend going?

Today is St. Nick's Day, so guess who got to play St. Nick and stay up late last night to stuff candy into the kids' shoes? (I've been informed that the candy in the shoes routine is a German tradition, which explains why my 100% German ancestry wife had that tradition and my family (100% mutt) didn't.)

Sleeping in on a Sunday: Good
Sleeping in on St. Nick's Day: Better
Sleeping in on Christmas Morning: Priceless (and not gonna happen, I'm afraid)

Aw, nuts. I guess there's no other location for one of the few people on earth who don't have a Facebook page?

You're not alone. I don't have a Facebook page either.

Joshua (jpsorrow) has some pics posted.

Three guesses as to who dared to be different on the group pics.

I think that the cat liking Nick Cave makes perfect sense to me. I can't explain (or excuse) the Bocelli.

Making chocolate-cherry muffins today, after some thought. Off to think onscreen (I was going to say "on paper," but I don't actually think that way and haven't for a long time. Like 1984 long. As you may well know. Ha!)

I'm happy the 5" or so of white stuff didn't all stick around. I was out in Worcester at an Open Studio of friends when the white stuff started falling from the sky, onto the trees-mostly-denuded streets, houses, and cars (Worcester had a severe outbreak of Asian Long Beetle, which is worse than a termite invasion for hardward trees such as maples--termites don't destroy live trees, long beetles do. There was a ban on moving wood out of Worcester, and when there were storms knocking down tree limbs, there was governmental ban on moving them out of the city...)
