Two Things
Nov. 6th, 2009 02:46 pm1.
As some of you know, the Magnificent (Genre) 7's best supporter has been April, she who manages the Johnson City/Binghamton (NY) Waldenbooks, and manages it quite splendidly. Alas, that Walden, despite its splendidness, is slated to be among the many bookstores closed in January, as Borders tries to reorganize itself.
The Mag7 has a signing in that store on December 5th. A risky but brave gesture on April's part, to try and sell BOOKS at a time when most stores are pushing the gifty "extras" that take shelf space away from books.
And we think it would be a swell thing -- for all the booksellers who do their damndest for authors and readers -- to make this signing the Best Sign-off Evah. So if you live in the area of Binghamton, or know someone who does -- even if it's a minor slog for you to get there -- please come out and support April and her crew (and us) so they can close out the store on an up note, and say "thanks for being there."
Yes, there will be cookies.
Also, there is a plan to be offering free gift-wrap of any book bought as a present (no, we won't make you bring your own paper!)
2.
I have been informed that I am far too reticent and undemanding (pauses while Some People hurt themselves laughing).
So, Fine. Okay.
Will work (hard) for GoH status.
There. Is that forward enough for y'all? Sheeesh.
*is amused, demands her cookie now*

Date: 2009-11-06 09:07 pm (UTC)I find it very easy to promote and cheer on other folk, but it's hard for me to put myself forward -- too many years being told I was support staff, not the star. I'm getting better at it, mind you, but it's still damned difficult.
