lagilman: coffee or die (citron presse)

Slow, rainy Sunday. I did a load of laundry, wrote 2,000 new words, watched a movie-and-a-half, and made an early dinner.

Mmm, dinner. If there's anything better than organic mature spinach sauteed with garlic and oil, it's that spinach topped with a rare piece of ribeye, seasoned with nothing more than oil and white balsamic vinegar, a sprig of fresh rosemary from the windowbox, and a grind of black pepper. Om nom nom. Anemia? What's that?

And now I have a glass of wine to finish off, and "Merlin" to mock (Tony Head's in it, so I will watch as much as I can stand. The things we do in the name of fandom...). Anyone else going to be watching? We can mock together!

If the show is too bad to even mock, I may write some more. Or maybe go to sleep early...

EtA: well, Tony still has that gorgeous voice....

I planned to, but there appears to be a golf tournament running long.

We are DVR-ing it. This way, we can race through the commercials, and I can finish watching the Yankees play badly. Hey, maybe it might be sort of good.

I'm planning to wait on Merlin till I read some reviews of the first ep. I already dislike almost all television anyway, so why risk the horror?

I hear the series is supposed to be nutty and hilarious, and of course ASH is required viewing no matter what he's in, so it's on my List. But... the List is, at this point, rather long.

I realized I wasn't paying much attention after the forty minute mark, so I took a break to wash the dishes and take out the trash.

A few years ago I would have been the first to howl if a series was Doing It Wrong, but I griped about the modern twists in New Who (and New Trek, for that matter) and look how that turned out. A lot of retellings seems to start off by changing the basics and essentially creating a new epic with old names and, with luck, some of the old spirit as well. It seems to boil down to whether the modern version can be believably walled off from the traditional version while still remaining true to some sort of form. (But yeah, it's just plain annoying when terminology is used wrong.)

...The Camelot Spell, hm? *puts on the List*

I read an interview with ASH where he mentioned that they had a number of anachronisms in the first few episodes, but he thought they'd been ironed out. He didn't say how far into the series that happened, though...

It was okay. I'll watch for ASH.

*has now watched some* ......Heh. I see what you mean. Looks like being raised in his rightful environment did wonders for the boy's ego. *snicker*
