(the above will make sense to anyone who lives in a co-op and/or has to deal with a management board. I keep reminding myself of all the GOOD things about co-ops....)

This is why, although I set very few rules on our home search, one of them, and one of two set in stone was 'NO HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION'.

They make fandom look functional.

Today I had a conversation that went like this:

Her: "Isn't LAG that author you like?"
Me: "Yes! ...Why?"
Her: "Her most recent manuscript is sitting on my desk!"
Me: askjfljd??
Her: "Yeah, apparently they want [an author her agency represents] to blurb it. I can't sneak it out to you, but I thought I'd taunt you with it momentarily."

Then I was sad. But kind of hilarified.

So much mean! Also, turns out, even though I am an exceptionally fast reader, even I can't "accidentally" drop by her office for lunch and read your book. Sadface.

I don't know that it's a sekrit, but just in case it is, I'll change the subject and show you the blog of an author. Whom I happen to, completely unrelatedly, like. For no other reason, at all. http://www.patrickrothfuss.com/blog/blog.html :)
