lagilman: coffee or die (love is magic)

Can't remember if I mentioned, but I've sold my short non-fiction piece "Form and Function" to Flashquake, for their Summer issue. URL will be posted when I have it. Quite pleased.

And the first sighting of a review for STAYING DEAD! Okay, it's only Harriet Klausner. Still.

"Fans of Laurell K. Hamilton, Tanya Huff and Mercedes Lackey are going to love STAYING DEAD, a romantic fantasy that stirs the senses and creates a story that is both fulfilling and magical (no pun intended). Laura Anne Gilman makes the reader believe that magic exists and creatures of myth and legend inhabit the earth. It will be very hard to wait for the next Retriever’s novel coming in the summer of 2005 because Laura Anne Gilman has cast quite a spell on readers."

She gave it a nine out of ten stars at bookcrossing.com.

And this weekend I will be at Balticon, with the following schedule:

Fri. 9:00 PM Writing and Editing Media Tie-Ins
Sat. 1:00 PM How Short Stories are Different to Write than Novels
Sat. 2:30 PM Reading
Sun. 11:00 AM Family I - Contracts and Weddings in Fantasy
Sun. 1:00 PM Choosing the Title for Your Book or Story (Grabbing the Reader Below the Belt)

So, should I read from STAYING DEAD? Or one of the Wren & Sergei short stories? Or something else entirely?

Very nice things being said in that review--do not knock the source, it might end up on your next cover!

I'd vote for the book reading, but then I lean heavily toward books in my reading. And am looking forward to it!

What Draven Said. And that totally rocks about the review. AND a story sale! Go, you! :)

That works too. :)

I just figure that they'll get hooked in the story and will sally forth from your reading straight down to the dealer's room and buy, buy, buy!!

I'm always especially proud of the non-fiction, as it seems a much tougher market.

Don't blame you; it seems that way to me as well. I've sold a few, and I worked my tail off on them.
