NYC bus drivers rock
Feb. 1st, 2009 12:59 amIt's 12:50 am and I get off the subway thinking "oh crap, if there's no bus I'm gonna have to walk home." Normally I don't mind that 7 minute walk from subway to apartment, but y'know, it's cold and I'm tired and I'd much rather catch a bus, but it's 12:50 Sunday am and forge--waitammint oh shit that's the #7 and damn the doors just closed and shit. I break into a run anyway because you never know.
I would not have been annoyed if the driver pulled out without looking because hey, he'd taken on his passengers and probably waited a minute or two, and he doesn't have to take the time to doublecheck, especially at 12:50 am. But he hesitates, and the doors open and I climb on and say "bless you."
And the driver, a middle-aged man, says matter-of-fact "there was a woman running for my bus." As simple as that.
I <3 NYC bus drivers.
