The best part about this is, THEY SENT IT TO YOU IN NEW YORK CITY. You'd think they'd have quality control to catch that sort of thing.

It never fails but that when I move I get a jury summons from my former desmesne within six months. Perhaps one day I'll actually get one from the current jurisdiction and be able to serve.

I've lived in the same house for over 30 years, driver's license and voter registration that whole time, and never received a jury summons . . .

Just because your Mailing Address happens to be in NYC, doesn't mean that you are living there full time. You could be commuting and just don't want anyone to know your home address (which obviously is still here in New Haven) so you are using your Business Address as your mailing address.

to be semi-fair, the mail was forwarded. To be 100% snarky: apparently they, like the city of New Haven Taxation Division, only update their records once a year, and no matter how man y times you tell them something the change doesn't take effect until after the next years update....

(seriously, people. When the DMV has their act together and you don't....)

I get called about every other year, but I never make it onto a jury. worse than just being a white male, they see "Ph.D." and punt me every time.

Last time I spent the day sitting around with the others waiting to be called in, and wrote up little character sketches based on random quirks of the other people in the room.

Funny. I've lived in NJ most my life and I got jury duty 3 times.

1st time... was away at college in PA.
2nd time... had just move an hour away.

oh, they're not actually gonna get me... I've informed them once again that I no longer live within their clutches county limits.
