If you're in the path of Gustav, or think you might be in the path of Gustav, do everything you have to and make sure you, your family, and your critters will be safe. Things can be replaced. People and critters can't.

If you know someone who is or might be in the path of Gustav, get in touch and offer them a place to stay (if logistically possible).

(and, being somewhat selfish, if you could spare a stray thought for not too many related airline tangles? I want to get home within 6 hours of my original arrival time...)

Yeah, mister Weather Junkie here has been "gleefully" (not really, but you know how weather geeks can be) telling me how horrible this storm is getting. Urgh. I hope it does like ...um, I forget the name, but a hurricane a few years ago that built up to reallyreallyBIGPOWERFUL status, then noodled around in the water till it burnt itself out, never making landfall. We can always pray.

You are not being selfish. Several of my nearest and dearest are going to be flying home (all of you/them on Tuesday). May the weather goddesses spare us as much as possible.

But if one ever needed more clear proof that the world is one, Gustav threatening New Orleans worries Suri in France coming home to NYC, Deb in NYC coming home to San Francisco, K&T in Atlanta coming home to Penny Lane ...

On a much cheerier note, have loved your travelog. Can't wait to see the pictures, and perhaps, some day, taste some of the wine.
