The joy of visiting the vamp is that a steak dinner is not only a pleasure but a requirement. Yum.

Me: *chopping scallions* "I have no idea what I'm doing, actually. If I did, it wouldn't be as much fun."
Dinner Companion: "I think I'll have another glass of wine."
Me: "Pour half your glass into the saucier, will you? But carefully!"
DC: "...."
Me: "Trust me! Have I ever fed you wrong?"
DC: *pours red wine into saucier, carefully.*
Me: "Good boy. Now yes, you can pour yourself some more."

It all worked out quite well. Although I think I'd have used a touch more salt. I need to buy more sel gris....

EtA: for anyone interested, dinner was a ribeye with red wine reduction with roasted garlic, green salad, and grilled pineapple for dessert. Yum.... Tomorrow or Thursday, I plan to try a cucumber vichyssoise.

it has been known to happen. Most people now know not try patronizing the cook....

"and she's cute, too" is NOT acceptable response to said cook getting praise. Just FYI if anyone missed that memo.
