au revoir, and Open Thread
Jul. 17th, 2008 06:33 amThe apartment is clean, the bags are packed, and at 6,750 words, "Mad Cats and Englishmen" is Fixed. It may even be Dun.
Which is good, 'cause "Cold Iron Cross" is starting to seriously demand my short attention span brain. My weekend visitor jump-started something, as usual, and it's starting to all come together.....
Otherwise, I got nothin'. I'm gone for the weekend. Here, have an open thread. Ask anything you like. Don't leave bloodstains.

Actually, out of sheer personal curisoity: you've seen The Industry now wearing a few hats. Is there somewhere within The Industry that you miss working or somewhere within The Industry that you've thought about giving a shot at?

Date: 2008-07-17 01:41 pm (UTC)Question: Do you have a favourite or least favourite of your own books? I know personally and with most writers I know, they both tend to be the most recent, but...do ya?

Date: 2008-07-21 03:36 am (UTC)I miss editing -- will always miss it. Yes, even the meetings. But not enough to go back, full-time.
I spent a summer moving around various departments (publicity, contracts, etc) as an intern and nothing really clicked for me other than editorial, although I always thought that Rights would be interesting for a few years. As for agenting... nah. Not for me.

Date: 2008-07-22 02:42 am (UTC)Hrm. Most favorite is always the one that's not been written, yet. It's all still pure Potential, and Possibility, and none of the inevitable anguish and goddamn-why-won't-it-work trauma of the actual writing.
Least favorite would be DEEP WATER. Actually, neither of the Buffy books make me happy, now, for a variety of reasons. Of the non-tie-ins, I'd say CURSE THE DARK is my least-favorite. I love it as a book, but I was writing it during a really difficult time of my life, and a lot of the pain and bitterness of that time still clings to my memories....
