lagilman: coffee or die (the general warned me...)

So I got my schedule for Balticon, and um...

I'm not quite sure what to think, actually. The stuff they put me on? Has no relation to me or my background AT All. And yes, I did send in the questionaire. And while I'm perfectly willing to bluff my way through a lot of situations, I see no reason to take up space on a panel I can add nothing to.

So. Um. If you see my name in the schedule? Don't expect to see me there. I may pop up on other panels, if there's room. Or you can find me in the bar.

I'm not really happy about this, but there's not much to do except roll with it, y'know?

That's a bizarre couple of panels to expect someone to bluff their way through!

Wow. I was thinking you could be Gracious and Professional and suffer through the panels, but those topics are total WTFPB?

Not even PB. If there had been PB, you'd have been perfectly fine.

I guess one -could- google Doyle or something, but...

Well, actually, they should know that you edited at one of the major SF publishing houses for quite some time and might have something to say on that subject, let alone the writing!

the whole problem is prolly the changing of the guard (so to speak) and they have new people doing their programing, people who have no clue as to the true workings of the universe :-}

While the lobby in front of the bar is a good spot for autographing, it's lousy in the sense that it sucks up a very good spot for people to congregate and just chill.

Well, you could always hijack hers! She won't be using it. :)

Thanks, but I'll wait for my own inappropriate schedule.

It sounds like the perfect time to make up your own panels, like:

"Meet and Greet the Local Wines"
"Adventure in a Glass"
"Spit or Swallow - When You Meet a Bad Wine"

Now to figure out how to rearrange my schedule so that I can attend!

Knowing what I do of you, that does seem like rather an odd list...

Not sure 'Spit or Swallow' is a title I would put in any con book...

Just saying.

Well, not this type of con, at least.

I still miss the pit, which was great for congregating and chilling.

I just realized that we're both autographing at 11 on Saturday, outside the bar. You think that will be too early to start Maltcon? :-)
