MommaTwoLegs is resigned to this, by now, and keeps a spare supply of pencils with her while she works.

The food thing - just wasn't gonna sit anymore. These things always come out, I find. Not sure why today and not last week or next week. A couple of weeks ago, BBC News did a whole week of special reports covering the issue from different countries and angles (much of which I already knew but often hadn't connected until relatively recently). As I read a lot on food history anyway so possibly it just all came together at that point, burbled away for a while and voila!
