Happy Birthday, Moggies o' my Heart!

It's been so crazed around here, I forgot to be a sappy cat-mom and wish my kids happy birthday!

Yes, they're both April babies -- although I joke that their birthdays should be 4/15, for the amount of money they've cost me over the years, it's actually 4/2 (Pandora) and 4/5 (Boomer). According to the ASPCA paperwork, anyway.

Pandora is ten. Boomer is four. To celebrate, we have a date with the V-E-T.



(yes, he really is that smug. and she really is that peevy. And they take turns whomping on each other, when they're not peacably sleeping on the bed/sofa/table together)

Yay, Happy Birthday!!!! Though a date with the V-E-T seems like a crappy gift... my cats would tear me to shreds! They hate the vet... or more importantly riding in the car to get to the vet with a passion. Hope you don't get injured!

well, the new vet is a block away, so there will be no car ride. Which is good, as Pandora yowls and Boomer moans like they were on their way to Madame Guillotine...

So you walk them? Do you have a leash? People who can walk cats are pretty awesome. Possibly demi-gods.

Boomer was trained to the leash when I realized how damn big he was going to be (hint: he was 10 pounds when I adopted him, at 9 months old!). Taking him into the vet's, especially a new vet, on leash is probably not a good idea, though. He's perfectly fine with dogs, but not all dogs are perfectly fine with cats, even ones the size of a small dog...

Pandora I just load into her carrier and haul around. At her old vet's she'd travel perched on my shoulder, but see above re: dogs (my old vet was a known quantity in that regard, and they all knew her)

Haha! Yeah I think I'd put him on a leash too! I have very svelte female cats, so they're easy to carry... but walking a dog-sized cat is very practical. Still very impressive though since "cat" and "trained" are not the most natural of combinations!

They're squinting - switch the light off, lass ;-) They're beautiful, but they look as though they'd prefer to be lying on the blanket, rather than clutching it ;-)
