Monday follies, all before 9am
Feb. 11th, 2008 08:41 amMy Super is, indeed, super. He responds quickly, politely, and never makes you feel like a complete idiot, even when you suspect you are.
I know this because I was awoken this morning [after working into the wee hours] by a beeping noise that sounded adrenaline-thumpingly like the sound a Co2 detector makes. I threw open a few windows, and my Super came up to investigate, and we determined that no, it was 'merely' the security system the former owner put in, deciding this morning to start beeping for no known reason. I called the security company, but because I was not a customer they could not help me. Dudes? I'm not a customer, no. The previous customer stopped paying on that account more than six months ago. Why is it even still powered-up?
They couldn't tell me. They couldn't help me, except to say "unplug the batteries."
I was working on about four hours of sleep and no caffeine, and just _finding_ the damn control box took some doing (since it didn't look as they described). In the meanwhile, I may have done damage to the intercom system. Hopefully O. the super Super will be just as gently sympathetic when doing those repairs, if so....
EtA: buzzer worked fine for the UPS guy this morning, so that's a crisis averted...
I really want to go back to bed now. Alas, that's not to be. Work calls. Thankfully, so does the coffee maker...
