Three things.
1. The Pats had a perfect season, and a longer one than any perfect team before. Kudos to them. Their post-season wasn't quite perfect. So it goes.
2. This game, while not quite the kill-me-now-whydoncha of the NFC championship, was a Damn Good Game. And a damn good Superbowl, more to the point. Everyone was in there until the very last second. Literally.
3. I have never before seen
quarkwiz's spouse P jump up and down like that. Of course, I was jumping up and down and whooping along with him, so I may not be the most impartial judge....
Oh, and 4. I took shit for not liveblogging the game this year. I had to explain that I'd have been using too many swearwords. The truth is, I was just too damn tired to even contemplate liveblogging the thing. Next year.
EtA: and 5. Coach Tom has teeth! Who knew? :-D
I fall over go boom, now. Anyone else planning in going to the parade on Tuesday?

Date: 2008-02-04 03:51 pm (UTC)Also not thrilled: I was planning to be near Bowling Green today and now, no way in hell.
But it was exciting to see people pouring out into the street.
Bechelich showed a stunning lack of good sportsmanship.

Date: 2008-02-04 07:00 pm (UTC)He's never been what you'd call a good role model. Admittedly, there was a lot of confusion at the end of the game, with nobody seemingly sure if they were going to play out the last seconds or not, so I don't blame the players... but Bill had a responsibility to be there until the bitter end, and he clearly wanted to go sulk somewhere offcamera.
Suck it up, Coach. Sports is about losing as well as winning, and a classic team does both with grace.

Date: 2008-02-05 05:52 am (UTC)I knew before the first half was over that the Patriots were going to lose the game. The offensive line just plain forgot to show up. Argh.
(Plus, Mumbles Menino had announced the plans for the victory parade already last Thursday. Way to put the jinx on, asshole. :P)

Date: 2008-02-05 09:11 pm (UTC)Barry (also a big Packer fan) said after the game, The Giants beat the Patriots in 4 quarters. They had to go to overtime to win against the Packers. (You take your victories where you can find them.) Despite the fact that the Giants knocked the Packers out of the playoffs, we were rooting for the Blue all through the game and were thrilled with the outcome.
