I've only ever used Dell's online tech support (which I realize can be problematic if the issue takes one completely offline :}), and I've had pretty good luck, even when the other end has obviously been in India. I've found that starting off with "I am a computer professional, let's please skip all the preliminary clueless-user crap" works well. :)
