Snow, yes. No idea how much (the weathercritters keep changing their minds) but definitely snow -- already 2-3 inches in less than two hours, and falling hard. New Haven has declared a State of Emergency (AKA "get OFF the street, you idiot, so we can plow") which means they expect 4-5" by rush hour. The felines and I have made a nest on the sofa, there is hot cocoa made, and a pile of books to be read.

ETA: and OMG, this is so cold and cruel but FUNNY...

Meanwhile I am having a mild crisis. Springsteen tickets go on sale this Saturday for a July show at Giants Stadium. This should be a no-brainer. Bruce, on home ground. In the summer. And yet...
I've been to a bunch of Springsteen stadium shows before. They're a high energy blast of Good Time. But:

1. Bruce ain't as young or energetic as he used to be.
2. Neither am I (and I've never been a Large Crowds person).
3. I've already seen three fabulous, much more intimate shows, and while you never want to miss The Perfect Concert, I've gotten tired of chasing after that dream, y'know? After four or five shows, exhaustion sets in.

But, the really damning thing? It's at Giants Stadium. In the Meadowlands. Where, contrary to all claims, management STILL hasn't shut down the Jets-fan assholes harassing women during the games. So, even though I have no worries at all about Bruce-fan behavior, and even though by July I'm sure they'll have finally figured out a way to deal with it by next season (or not)....my boycott of the facilities is still in play.

So... sorry, E-Street. I love you guys, but this is a Thing. I suspect you'll understand.

I love Bruce. You know that. But not Giants Stadium. No. No. No.

My definition of a wonderful winter day! Enjoy. :-)

*howls at the cartoon* That's *so* good.

Snow day, yea! We got a lot of snow in the mountains this week, and when you drive around town you're surrounded by snow-capped mountains; it's very pretty.

Did you get the call from the City Hall Robot about the parking ban, too? I just about fell off the couch when that one came in. They're actually TRYING to let the citizens of New Haven know when a snow emergency has been declared?! Whatever will they do without all the towing revenue??

(Yes, still bitter about that time back in 1993 when I got towed off Academy Street after a supposed "snow emergency" that hadn't been publicized ANYWHERE, why do you ask? :P)

Missed that on first read. LOL muchly. If I did that, though, I'd wipe out most of my friends out here, esp. the UR crowd. I know one PhD geographer I could wipe out by debating whether or not there should be spaces on either, one, or both sides of an em dash.

I'll get to see Bruce for the first time this coming April when he plays Toyota Center in Houston. Thanks for keeping me alert to his tour!

Did the bottle stopper make it through the airport in Austin on the way back from the 'dillo?

Great concert, my ears have still not recovered. Sound board could have used a lighter touch (the heavy bass caused muscle spasms in my chest). And, he started about 70 minutes after the time posted on the tickets.
