The Ape At Rest. Darwin so very much nailed it.

The only problem with having put up the winter (dark, thick, cold-baffling) drapes is that they turn my bedroom from a nicely airy and light-filled place into a warm, dark cave from which it is difficult to emerge. The cats think so, too. I may have to buy a timer for the lamps and set it for 'full illumination' at the appropriate time.

Deadlines are being, if not slain, then at least grieviously wounded and hog-tied for later finishing off. Sometimes that's the best you can claim for the day.

I missed shouting about a birthday yesterday. I suspect the birthday girl will forgive me.

It is cold outside. I should go to the gym. I really should. Or maybe I'll just stay in my cave and work from bed all day. Both are valid time-use choices, don't you think?

And, from [livejournal.com profile] klingonguy a meme that, amusingly enough, actually makes perfect sense.

William Shakespeare

I am but mad north-north-west; when the wind is southerly, I know a hawk from a suricattus.

Which work of Shakespeare was the original quote from?

Yay for slaying deadlines-- or wresting them into submission.

I begin revisions this weekend-- eep!

And I adore the quote I got. My very favorite Shakespeare quote.

Actually that quote is not from any work of Shakespeare, I am pretty sure he didn't mention a suricattus in any of his plays. Although I do believe the original play was Hamlet and the item was a handsaw.

Have you ever read "Twisted Tales from Shakespeare" by Richard Armour? I love that book.
