Dear Universe:

If you cannot see your way to clearing our living space of upright apes (of any/all extremist views) who think that planting bombs among civilian targets is a good and just idea, please continue to make more of them incompetent, as they are much to be preferred to smart ones. Especially when they manage to take themselves out the final exit door/get themselves caught in the process of their incompetence.

Also? Smart cops/firefighters/paramedics/commonfolk are good. Smart and lucky is even better. We freely acknowledge the role luck plays in staying safe, and will not abuse it needlessly.

Thank you.

The sane portion of the upright ape population

Glasgow of all places. I have to admit, my first thought was "stupid SUV drivers."

Nicely put.

And the vehicle barriers (which are, when you get down to it, nothing more sophisticated than concrete-filled steel posts with more underground than above it) put in place by some of the more competent upright apes did their job, preventing the idiots from being able to penetrate the terminal building itself and undoubtably sparing many from injury or death.

On the unfortunate side, we're now into what I call "hillbilly terrorist tech": load up a car with a few 5-gallon gas cans, a couple 20-lb propane tanks (all of which are available at the corner gas station), a rag, a cigarette lighter, and 1-3 martyr wannabes, and you, too, can duplicate the efforts of the 3 most recent finds in the UK (today's Glasgow airport hit and the two misses in London yesterday).

No, I'm not giving away how to make a bomb -- that's a description of the inside of one of the London vehicles from yesterday I picked up in some press account or other (probably Reuters as just about everyone else ran out of facts early today and went into Stupid Mode, which prompts me to change the channel to Mythbusters reruns and/or Travel Channel shows on cruise ships as infinitely preferable), except for the quantity of martyr wannabes, who upped the ante to three today according to some reports.

Anyway, the final nail in the coverage coffin was the CNN reporter outside LaGuardia who seemed confused that they were still allowing curbside drop-off and pick-up... clearly not paid to think first, just to report, otherwise they'd have heard that there is no indication these guys are anything other than home-grown UK types.

But for all that, Laura Anne, nicely put from another sane (at least on this matter) upright ape.
