New Haven has Indy Fever. 90 degrees in the shade.

Last night when I met friends for drinks, I walked into a time warp, as familiar locales downtown were replaced by mock storefronts from my parents' generation (amusingly enough, the pawn shop didn't faze me, but the Woolworth's sign stopped me dead for a doubletake). Cops and camera crews everywhere, and parking's even worse than usual. Film crew's in town, oh yeah. The jaded New Yorker in me is amused at how excited everyone's getting. But it is fun to watch --so long as they don't get in my way.

Someone asked me about my favorite 'Jones' -- Ford or Connery? Only a straight male could ask that question. Seriously. Like there was any bad there?

Filming begins today, on a rather spectacularly hot and bright day. This evening they will be having a street festival of sorts, with drink and meal specials at a number of the restaurants, and a showing of RAIDERS on the Green after dark. Yeah, I'm going. Free popcorn, people! Free popcorn! I am a cheap date.

If I have to have down time, this seems to be a good week for it.


Meanwhile, my lizard brain is stirring. Something's coming....

Are they filming a new IJ movie in your town? I'm out of touch. If so, who'd playing Indie?

They're filming bits of it here, yeah. Also in Demming, NM, according to locals there. Set in the 50's, and Harrison's playing Jones again, albeit an older, less agile one...

They had a major casting call in town a few weeks ago, had people lined up the night before, for a 1 pm start.

OMG! I'm so jealous!!! HARRISON FORD IS GOING TO BE NEAR YOU ARE YOU NOT HAVING FITS!!! Boy I'd be in prision already for trying to stalk him...

I should be freaking out more, shouldn't I? But I suspect it's mostly going to be second unit, as they're prepping for a lot of stunts.

Plus, it's too damn hot to stalk.

I did have lunch today with someone who got cast as an extra. I should make sure he has his camera with him on-set, just in case....

Funny. I would have no desire to stalk either actor. No, I'm not dead. I just don't like impersonal encounters. Meeting you in Paris, Laura, was interesting because we were able to take time and talk one on one (Much to the SO's sorrow, since he was left high and dry). But I don't think I would have come down from Lille to stand in line for a glimpse of you at a signing. Am I odd? Don't answer that question. (Talk about handing you the stick and asking you to beat me.)

And have the guy steal some underwear or something if Harrison happens to show up... or just a shirt... get some good $$ on ebay for that stuff... yeah...

But yes, waiting outside of a trailer without a/c would be rather annoying. ::sigh:: one can, however, dream.
